How to Apply for a Visa to Mauritius
If you’re planning to travel to Mauritius, here’s a guide on how to apply for a visa, depending on your location and circumstances.
Where to Apply:
- Diplomatic/Consulate Representatives: Applicants should apply through their nearest Mauritian Diplomatic or Consulate offices.

- Air Mauritius Offices: If your country does not have diplomatic representatives, you can submit your application at the nearest Air Mauritius office.
- By Mail: In countries without a Mauritian diplomatic or Air Mauritius office, applications can be sent via email to:

Documents Required for Visa Application:
To ensure a smooth visa application process, you need to submit the following:
- Visa Application Form: Fill in and sign the Visa Application Form.
- Two Recent Passport-Size Photos: Recent photographs of the applicant.
- Photocopy of Passport Data Pages: Include the pages showing your personal details.
- Residence Permit (if applicable): This is for applicants not residing in their country of origin. The permit must be valid for at least three months beyond your departure from Mauritius.
- Copy of Return Ticket: Proof of onward travel to your country of origin or residence.
- Bank Statements: Provide bank statements for the last three months.
- Accommodation Details: Hotel booking or, if sponsored by a citizen of Mauritius, evidence of sponsorship along with the sponsor’s ID and proof of address.
- For Business Visa Applicants: Include a letter from your local sponsor or company.
- For Minors: Provide a consent letter from the parents, the applicant’s birth certificate, and copies of the parents’ passports.
- Additional Documents: The authorities may request further documentation if necessary.
Important Notes:
- Processing Time: As far as practicable, the visa will be issued within five (5) working days, provided all documents are submitted.
- Early Application: It is recommended that applicants apply at least one month before travel.
- Admission to Mauritius: Possession of a visa does not guarantee entry. Upon arrival in Mauritius, the final decision rests with the Immigration Officer.
- Wait for Approval: Do not travel to Mauritius until your visa application has been approved.
