During the Mauritian summer (October to April), temperatures hover around 25-30°C, while winter (May-September) offers a comfortable 22°C with ideal winds for kitesurfers and windsurfers, albeit heavier rainfall in February and March.

Traveling across Mauritius is a breeze. A well-established bus service operates with major hubs in Port Louis, Curepipe, Quatre Bornes, Flacq, and Mahébourg. Opting for a rental car is an excellent way to explore the island, but Mauritius is also highly conducive to cycling.

The island uses the Mauritian rupee, which is subdivided into 100 cents. There are exchange bureaus in the airport, and ATMs also accept credit cards and occasionally debit cards.

The island of Mauritius is just over 60km in length and less than 50km across, spanning 2,040km² (790 square miles). This is the same size as the whole of the Cotswolds. It also has an exclusive economic zone covering 2,300,000km² (670,000 square nautical miles).

No COVID-19 testing is needed before travelling to Mauritius or on arrival. Prior to travel, it is recommended that all travellers fill out the Mauritius All in One travel form, which you can access via the link below. It will generate a PDF document with a QR Code. Please print a hard copy of this completed form and present it to Health Officials on arrival at Mauritius Airport. If you have not filled out the All in One travel form, foreign nationals must fill out an Immigration Disembarkation Card on arrival at the airport.

Mauritius uses plug types C (Euro) and G (British). Most hotels are equipped with USB charging ports, but any concerns can be addressed by contacting the hotel directly.
