Residency by Retirement – Senior Living Residence

Mauritius offers an ideal retirement environment with pleasant weather, a peaceful atmosphere, and a cost-effective lifestyle. The country’s infrastructure is continually improving, making it a prime location for retirement.

Senior Living Projects

Projects under the Property Development Scheme (PDS) for Senior Living cater to retirees aged 50+, providing independent living in a community of peers. These projects include:

  • Recreation and socialising facilities, such as clubhouses and gyms.
  • Health clubs or facility management services focused on older people’s needs.

Acquisition Options for Retirees

  • Non-citizen retirees can acquire a residential unit or the life rights to a unit in an approved project.
  • There is no minimum acquisition price.
  • Retirees can also apply for a residence permit for themselves and their spouse or joint law partner, valid as long as they own or occupy the property.

Important Notes

  • Application Process: Retirees can apply for an Occupation Permit or a Residence Permit at no cost through the National E-Licensing System (NELS).
  • The Economic Development Board (EDB) does not charge any fees for processing applications. Only successful applicants must pay the statutory permit fees to the Government of Mauritius.

For more information or to start your application, visit the NELS portal or contact the Economic Development Board.
