Smart City Scheme
Smart City Scheme Mauritius
The Smart City Scheme is a visionary development initiative based on the “work, life, and play” concept. These large-scale, mixed-use projects are designed to foster vibrant, cosmopolitan communities centered around innovative technologies and smart solutions. Residential estates within smart cities are integrated into masterplans that promote sustainability, well-being, and opportunities for innovation-driven businesses. The smart cities also offer multiple leisure amenities and a harmonious lifestyle for residents.
Under the Smart City Scheme, non-citizens have the opportunity to acquire residential units such as townhouses, villas, apartments, penthouses, or duplexes within these innovative developments.
Additionally, non-citizens holding residence permits, occupation permits, or permanent residence permits can purchase serviced plots of land, up to 2,100 m², within residential developments located in smart cities approved by the Economic Development Board (EDB). The acquisition for these plots of land had to be completed by 30 June 2022, for the purpose of constructing a residence.
For non-citizens, purchasing residential property valued at a minimum of USD 375,000 grants eligibility for a residence permit in Mauritius.
